The Consortium

The Consortium of Collegiate Agriculture Organizations is made up of 17 organizations that equip and develop the future leaders of the agriculture industry at the college level. Each of these groups has found individual success as an organization in a specific field of agriculture. Recently they have identified the importance of working together to create quality programming and development opportunities for all students in agriculture. Rather than working individually these groups are working collaboratively. The consortium provides this website as a resource to its student members and our industry partners. Through this website we provide resources for local students and chapters to connect with each other and build their personal and chapter leadership. We also provide a link between our industry partners and student members for career and internship opportunities.

Learn:

You know the latest methods, theories and skills in your field, but what about those other things? How do you find an internship or a job? What should you expect from an interview? Maybe you’ve just been elected to an office in your organization – how do you get group going? Or you’ve got the job, how do you manage a budget? All of these skills are important to your success in life. Where do you find some help? Collegiate Life Knowledge give you ideas and activities that help you be a better leader, help you handle the job search process, show you ways to help your community and, simply help you learn to be a grown up.

Maybe there some new information on how industry markets their products in the electronic age. Read, review and add interesting information, articles, resources or ideas that can be shared with other chapters in your organization, and other agriculture students around the nation in the Resource section.

Connect:

Another chapter or group in your organization had a neat idea for recruiting members, but you don’t know how to get in touch. Use “Connect” to get in touch with other chapters in your organization or with other agriculture and life sciences groups or students at your college or university. It is not just what you know that will help you succeed, but also who you know. Build your contacts with this unique resource.

Assessments:

Provide brief text of each type of assessment and its benefits. You know help and information are available, but sometimes you don’t know what questions to ask or where to begin. Assessments can help you figure out what you don’t know and, more importantly, send you to the tools that can help you answer the questions. Using assessments can help you or your organization get on the path to success. The questions help you find areas where you need help and then directs you to the Collegiate Life Knowledge lessons that help you develop the skills you need.

Retreats:

Retreats are a great way to energize an organization, an officer team or a work group. The “Retreats” section can take the list of skills that your organization needs help with and turn them into an instant retreat. The application helps you organize the sessions, do the additional planning that will make your retreat a success and even provides a place for your organization’s leaders can update the team or add details during the planning process.

Teams:

Communication is the key to successful teamwork. The “teams” section of the site can help your group communicate, send out notices on coming events or even plan a retreat. Having a single, flexible location where your team can provide information or ask questions keeps everything moving toward the same goal – whether your team is across the campus or across the country.
